Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:

Ticket Information - Notifications, Wait List, Refunds, etc.
ONLINE TICKET NOTIFICATIONS:
Beginning this year, when you order tickets online, you will receive 3 email notifications as follows:

    1. order has been received and is being processed
    2. order has been completed (can take up to a day to receive)
    3. festival tickets

The change is the additional email (#3), and you will need to present the festival tickets email at the time of registration at Uke U. If you lose your ticket(s), please contact us BEFORE June 1st so we can re-issue and send tickets. After June 15th, we will have limited time to re-issue and send tickets.

WAIT LIST:
If you really want to come, we advise that you purchase your ticket early as there will be NO waitlist once tickets are sold out. We recommend you post on the Ukulele University Facebook page that you are interested in purchasing a ticket. Include your email and phone number so folks can contact you if they have tickets to sell.

REFUND POLICY:
Tickets will be refundable through May 31st, 2017 less a 30% processing and service fee.
Example: $125 ticket - $37.50 = $87.50 refund

After, June 1st, there will be no refunds.

RE-SALE/TRANSFER OF TICKETS:
Uke U will no longer be involved in the re-sale or transfer of tickets after they are purchased; you will be responsible for interacting with anyone who is interested in buying or selling your ticket(s). In the past folks have had success in posting on the Ukulele University Facebook page for both purchasing and selling tickets (include your email and phone number). Please do not contact us with the names of individuals who purchased your ticket(s) as we will not be keeping a record of re-sales and transfers.

If you sell your ticket, it will be your responsibility to forward the festival tickets email to the purchaser who will then need to sign in at Uke U under your name. If you sell only 1 of your tickets and will be using the remaining ticket(s), you will need to sign in at Uke U for all your tickets and make arrangements to meet up with the purchaser so you can give them their wrist band.

What ukulele skills do I need to attend?
Uke U has something all levels of ukulele players. Here are the broad descriptions of the five levels of ukulele skills that are used to describe workshops at Uke U.

L1 - Beginner 1
No prior experience or relatively new to playing ukulele, is learning basic chords, how to strum, etc.

L2 - Beginner 2
Knows 6-15 chords, how to strum in time to the music, is learning to anticipate chord changes and how to transition to chords more quickly, easily. Is also learning basic chord progressions, patterns, etc.

L3 - Intermediate 1
Is familiar with most common chords and basic strum patterns, is learning a 12 bar blues, the pentatonic scale, picking patterns, etc. Plays 1+ times per week, alone or with others.

L4 - Intermediate 2
Can follow music, knows most chords pretty well. Varies strumming to meet tempo and rhythmic style of the music. Is learning the pentatonic scale, picking patterns, etc.

L5 - Advanced
Knows most of the basics (above), can listen and play along with others, as well as play solo. Can strum, pick, and understands moveable chord shapes and how to “play up the neck.” Enjoys learning new techniques, and adapting familiar skills to new situations.

What should I bring?
Don't forget your ukulele! Additionally Central Oregon can get hot in the summer so you might want to bring along water although it will be available for purchase as well. If you are camping at nearby Tumalo State Park, you might want to bring along your bike, floating devices for the swimming hole and shoes for the hiking trails.

Do I sign-up for workshops before the festival?
There is no pre-registration ~ workshops will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. With the number of workshops offered, this has not been a problem.
May I bring my dog(s)?
Dogs are not allowed on the campus at Cascades Academy. If you are camping at Tumalo State Park, it a pet friendly facility and dogs are welcome in the camping area on a leash.
What if there is no parking at the school?
The school has expanded their parking lot so there will more places to park than in previous years. There will be overflow parking at the Tumalo State Park day-use area ($5 fee or state park pass) with shuttle buses transporting folks in the morning and evening as well as on-call for specified times during the day. The Information Services table will have details for on-call times.
Can I park my vehicle overnight at the school?
Unfortunately, overnight parking is not allowed at the school, so we can’t allow you to park any vehicles overnight including RVs and trailers.

Is there near-by lodging
Uke U is held at Cascades Academy which is located just a short distance from Bend where there are many lodging options.  The "Visit Bend" website has up-to-date information on lodging.

Riverhouse and Shilo Inn are probably the closest to Cascades Academy, but all places in Bend would not be far.  Once you find a place of interest,  "Google" the motel/hotel and check on reviews.

Is food available for purchase during the festival?
There will be food vendors on site all three days.

Do I need to bring a chair?
Classrooms and indoor jams will have seating provided with workshop information projected on-screen.
May I bring friends to the evening concerts?
We no longer sell tickets to the evening concerts due to seating capacity limitations, so unfortunately only 3-Day Ticket holders may attend the evening concerts.
What are camping options?
Uke U does not reserve campsites for individuals at Tumalo State Park. If you want to camp at Tumalo you will have to make your own reservations through the Reserve America website. Reservations through Reserve America are accepted no earlier than 9 months prior to the requested date.

What if Uke U is sold out?
Please do not request to be put on a wait list as there will be no waitlist once Uke U is sold out. We recommend that you post on the Ukulele University Facebook page that you are looking to purchase a ticket ~ include your email and phone number so that folks can contact you in the event they have tickets to sell.
What if I have purchased tickets and find that I cannot attend Uke U?
We understand that things come up after you have made reservations. If you are unable to make it to Uke U this summer, you have a couple options:

  1.  You can transfer (give, sell, auction, whatever) the ticket(s) to someone else for free.
    Uke U will no longer be involved in the re-sale or transfer of tickets after they are purchased; you will be responsible for interacting with anyone who is interested in buying or selling your ticket(s). In the past folks have had success in posting on the Ukulele University Facebook page for both purchasing and selling tickets (include your email and phone number). Please do not contact us with the names of individuals who purchased your ticket(s) as we will not be keeping a record of re-sales and transfers.If you sell your ticket, it will be your responsibility to forward the festival tickets email to the purchaser who will then need to sign in at Uke U under your name.   2. Ask us for a refund
    Tickets will be refundable until June 1st, 2017 less a 30% processing and service fee.
    Example: $150 ticket – $45 = $105 refund. After, June 1st, there will be no refunds.
  3. To get the refund from Uke U, email us contact@ukeu.info, give us the name the registration was charged to, the amount paid, and an address to mail the refund check to. After sending us this information, please allow several weeks for delivery. Although we usually send out the check within a week, it seems that mail service can sometime take longer than expected.
